Insa-dong Street

Insa-dong, a narrow street Subway Lined with antique stores, art galleries, and secondhand book stores, where visitors can wander and browse at leisure.
Dubbed "May's Alley" by foreign residents of Seoul, Insa-dong is the most reliable to purchase antiques and reproductions in the city, particularly the many types of Choson Dynasty chests.
There are also bargains in calligraphy, paintings, and a wide variety of implements and articles from Korea's past

 

Namdaemun(South gate) Market

Namdaemun market is one of the oldest continually running markets in South Korea, and it is the largest retail market in Seoul.
Much of the market is outside, but there are also many stores which line the streets. Many retailers buy their items, particularly clothing, at wholesale prices at Namdaemun, to resell in their own stores in other cities. Namdaemun is a popular tourist attraction, but most of the customers are Korean.

 

Dongdaemun(East Gate) Market

Dongdaemun market is the largest shopping center in South Korea. It opened in July, 1905. It is located near Dongdaemun of which it takes its name. In total the market has 26 shopping malls situated over 10 blocks, 30,000 speciality shops, and 50,000 manufacturers . The market sells goods ranging from just about everything but notably silks, clothes, shoes and leather goods, sporting goods, plumbing and electronics, office supplies, fortune tellers, toys and food areas specializing in Korean cuisine.
The market was traditionally a night market and wholesalers once operated from 1:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Now, the area is open for 18 ½ hours a day from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., with some stores open 24 hours a day, although most stores close on Mondays and holidays

 

Itaewon Street

Many restaurants serving international dishes are found in this area including cuisine from India, Thailand, and Mexico, foods that are not widely available in Korea. Some restaurants serve halal food, while the Seoul Central Mosque is also located in Itaewon.
Itaewon is also, along with Insadong and Seoul Tower, one of the most popular areas in Seoul for tourists. Major hotels such as the Hyatt and local landmark Hamilton Hotel can be found here as well as dozens of shops and services aimed at tourists.

 


Myeongdong Street

Myeongdong is one of Seoul’s main shopping districts featuring mid to high priced retail stores and international brand outlets. It is a popular area for particularly young people as a center for fashion and nightlife.
Myeongdong has four large department stores: Migliore, Lotte Department Store, Avatar, and High Harriet. It is also the center of major financial services and securities. Some of the major Insurance, financial services companies, and investment firms that are headquartered in Myeongdong

 

Coex Mall

COEX Mall is an underground shopping mall located in the Gangnam-gu of Seoul, South Korea, and is the largest shopping centre in Seoul.
The COEX Mall is often crowded, and it is a popular place for people in Seoul to go on the weekend. Along with countless shops, the mall houses two food courts, a 16-screen multi-cinema complex, a world-class aquarium attraction, a mega-scale bookstore and the Kimchi Field Museum.

 

Gyeongdong Herbal Medicine Market

Gyeongdong Market or Kyungdong Market is one of the largest herbal medicine and ginseng market of South Korea. Since its establishment in 1960, the market supplies 70 percent of the nation’s herbal medicine ingredients and has more than 1,000 related shops and oriental medicine clinics in the area. Gyeongdong Market also serves as a wholesale and retail markets selling agricultural product and fish in about 300,000 square meters, about five times the size of the Seoul Sangam World Cup Stadium.

Sinchon is a very busy area of the city and holds several department stores, cinemas and shopping areas that cater mainly to a young crowd. Also in the vicinity are several universities such as Yonsei University, Ewha Woman's University, Hongik University and Sogang University. Sinchon is also one of the major entertainment districts with hundreds of bars, karaoke rooms, PC-rooms and restaurants lining up the streets covered in neon lights at night. One of Seoul's largest hospitals, Severance Hospital, is linked with Yonsei University in Sinchon.
